Objectives:
Construction of 34 MW COGEN Power Plant (Brownfield Project)
Construction of 80 KLPD Ethanol Distillery (Brownfield Project()

Scope 1:
Design, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Installation, Construction, Testing and Guarantee run for Offsites & Utilities, Piping Appurtenances, Plant Electrification and Balance of Plant for 34 MW COGEN Plant for existing Sugar Mill.

Scope 2:
Design, Engineering, Procurement, Project Management, Installation, Construction, Testing and Guarantee run for Offsites & Utilities, Piping Appurtenances, Plant Electrification and Balance of Plant for 80 KLPD Ethanol Distillery as part of Downstream expansion of existing Sugar Mill.

Challenges:
Brownfield project execution involves many unique design challenges that are not generally encountered in Greenfield development and Successful execution of Brownfield projects is inherently complex due to constraints and unknowns in existing facilities thus rendering the Project vulnerable to delays and cost overruns

Highlights:

• Multiple vendors across the globe
• More than 100 import consignments to Kenya from Multiple countries of origin
• Multi modal transportation including inland transportation from Mombasa Port to Mumias site (900 Km)

Measures:
Design and engineering challenges were identified and addressed early on in the project  lifecycle to avoid project execution issues. Detailed study was done and strategy was made to efficiently manage the linkage between existing facilities / operations organization and new plant. Project scheduling was streamlined to integrate with Maintenance & Operation driven shutdowns of existing plant for seamless hook up and effectively managed operations interface.

Keeping Safety Issues with SIMPOS (Simultaneous Operations) in focus as Cornerstone of our Project execution philosophy, we completed the jobs before schedule with ZERO downtime. On account of any minor or major incidents / accidents at site.
